Scottish Mental Health First Aid Training


We are delighted to announce Elaine Masson (lead trainer) and Alison Ebbitt (co-trainer) will be delivering SMHFA training in our offices at Regent Quay, Aberdeen. Generously donating all proceeds from this session to Autism Understanding Scotland.

Dates: Monday 26th and Tuesday 27th June 2023 (2 day course)

Times: 9.00 am - 4.00 pm (both days)

Location: Autism Understanding Scotland, 41 Regent Quay, 1st Floor, Aberdeen, AB11 5BE

Cost: £125 per participant

What is SMHFA?

SMHFA is an accredited Public Health Scotland course with the following aims:

·       To preserve life

·       To provide help to prevent the mental health problem or crisis developing into a more serious state

·       To promote the recovery of good mental health

·       To provide comfort to a person experiencing distress

·       To promote understanding of mental health issues

Participants develop skills in asking appropriate questions, listening without judgment and giving guidance about where help can be found. The course is highly interactive with a blend of group and individual activities and the trainers aim to provide an interesting and supportive training environment.

Who is delivering the course?

Elaine Masson (lead trainer) is an independent HR consultant, workplace mediator and an accredited SMHFA trainer with several years’ experience of delivering SMHFA across a wide range of organisations.

Alison Ebbitt (co-trainer) is a qualified social worker, mental health officer, counsellor, family mediator and has worked for many years delivering SMHFA and is a member of the national training team.
